IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Jack Boyle was named Co-Big Ten gymnast of the week after helping No. 9 Iowa defeat the No. 18 UIC Flames for the second time this season on Jan. 24 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa won the meet 428.600 to 398.600. Boyle grabbed two event titles. He won rings (15.400) and floor exercise (14.750), while also taking second on parallel bars (14.400).
This is the first Big Ten weekly award for Boyle and the first men’s gymnastics weekly honor for the Hawkeyes in 2015.
The Hawkeyes are back in action on Feb. 1 against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 6 Ohio State in Iowa City. The meet begins at 12 p.m. The first 50 students through the doors receive a free slice of pizza and pop. Students are also eligible to register for 2 free $50 Hy-Vee gift card.
