IOWA CITY, Iowa — The No. 6 University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team had juniors Matt Loochtan and Jack Boyle compete at the first day of the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. Loochtan qualified for event finals while Boyle finished 33rd in all-around. For complete results of the event’s sessions, visit usagym.org.
Loochtan qualified for event finals on vault following a season high 15.150, clinching fourth place on the event. Loochtan competed in four of six events, tying a season high on floor exercise (14.750), and placing seventh.
Boyle finished 33rd in all-around with a score of 79.250. The Naperville native competed in every event, tying for 51st on vault, posting a 13.900 and placing 31st on high bar with a 13.500 effort.
The finals of the Winter Cup Challenge take place Saturday, Feb, 21. 2015 at 9:15 p.m. (CT).
