IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s and women’s diving team completed day-three action at the 2015 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships inside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium in Iowa City, Iowa. “It all came together today and that shows our program is moving in the right direction,” said UI diving coach Todd Waikel. “Calli qualifying on tower was very exciting for her and then for Addison to do the same thing was really special.

“Addison met one of his big goals this season which was to score 400.00 points on a six-dive set. To do it at this meet was really special. I’m really proud of this group of divers. We’re moving in the right direction.”

During the women’s prelims, three Hawkeyes — sophomores Head (279.80) and Lydia Lehnert (226.50) and redshirt senior Lauren Kelba (176.10) — represented Iowa in platform competition. Head and Lehnert finished eighth and 14th to qualify for the finals.

The duo continued to climb the scoreboard in the finals. Head improved her mark to a score of 559.30 to finish seventh overall and Lehnert improved to a 505.80 mark, finishing 11th overall. With the seventh-place finish in the finals, Head will advance to the 2015 NCAA Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.

On the men’s side, Boschult and freshman Matt Mauser represented the Black and Gold off the platform. Boschult paced the Hawkeyes in the prelims, finishing fourth overall with a score of 387.70. Mauser came in at 15th, posting a mark of 256.50. Both divers advanced to the finals.

Boschult shined in the finals diving to a UI record setting six-dive score of 409.20. The Omaha, Nebraska, native finished second overall with a combined score of 796.90. Mauser finished 16th after diving to a personal best score of 529.90.

“The emotions were great out there today, I’m really pleased with our performances,” said Waikel. “This is how Hawkeyes behave and train. We’re making our goals and we continue to move in the right direction.”

The Iowa women return to action March 19-21, competing in the 2015 NCAA Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. The men will resume competition from March 26-28, inside the CRWC Natatorium in Iowa City.
