IOWA CITY, Iowa – For the third consecutive spring, the University of Iowa football team will hold an open practice at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines. The open practice will take place on Saturday, April 11, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

West and Southeast gates at Valley Stadium will open at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are not required for the event.

There will not be parking available at Valley Stadium, with the exception of limited handicap parking available in the west parking lot. The Valley Church parking lot, adjacent to Valley Stadium, will have limited public parking until 4:30 p.m. Additional parking will be available on a first-come-first served basis at: Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, Jordan Creek Elementary, WDM City Hall, WDM Library and WDM Church, surrounding the stadium. Due to limited parking, fans are encouraged to car pool when possible. Access to most parking is available off of Fuller Drive and/or 39th street. There are paved walking paths on the surrounding campus that fans can take to Valley Stadium.

Concession stands within the stadium will be open. No outside food or drink will be allowed in Valley Stadium. Other prohibited items include strollers and umbrellas. Bags may also be subject to search upon entry to Valley Stadium.

“Holding the open practice in West Des Moines each of the past two years has been a very successful event for our program,” said head coach Kirk Ferentz. “The practice has been well received by our players and coaches, and our fans in central and western Iowa. We appreciate the assistance and cooperation we receive from everyone involved from the West Des Moines Community School District and Valley High School in making this event a success. We appreciate their willingness to work with our program again in the planning and organization of this event.”

No tailgating, including open flame grills, is allowed on West Des Moines Community School District, city of West Des Moines, or Valley Church property; including before and after the practice. Alcohol is not ever allowed on the city of West Des Moines or West Des Moines Community Schools property. All WDMCS property, including Valley Stadium, is tobacco-free. There will not be a post-event autograph session.

Iowa begins spring drills on Wednesday, March 25. The Hawkeyes conclude spring practice with an open practice in Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, April 25 (1 p.m.).
