IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa Athletics Department and KXIC Radio announced Wednesday that 12 of the Iowa volleyball team’s 20 Big Ten Conference matches will air live on “Iowa City’s Home of the Hawkeyes” this season.
“We are so excited to have KXIC broadcasting so many of our matches this fall,” said UI head coach Bond Shymansky. “We are working hard to be a flagship program at Iowa and this is a perfect way for us to gain more exposure in greater eastern Iowa. We know that Iowa is behind the Hawkeyes, and now they can start following Hawkeye volleyball on the radio.”
The first broadcast of the season is Sept. 26 at Nebraska at 7 p.m. (CT). Second-year Iowa volleyball announcer Tim Keating will call the action. All of Iowa’s home and away matches are available online as part of the premium content on Hawkeye All-Access at hawkeyesports.com.
The Hawkeyes kick off the 2015 campaign on Saturday against South Dakota State and Pacific at the Northern Illinois Tournament before taking on the host Huskies on Sunday.
Iowa opens its home slate hosting Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Texas A&M, and Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series foe Iowa State in the Comfort Suites Challenge on Sept. 11-12. One week later Iowa hosts Coastal Carolina, Drake, and Gardner-Webb in the Holiday Inn Hawkeye Classic on Sept. 18-19.
The 12 on-air matches are subject to change depending on conflicts with Cubs baseball, Iowa football and Iowa women’s basketball.
