IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three members of the University of Iowa women’s golf team — senior Amy Ihm, junior Jessie Sindlinger, sophomore Jessica Ip— have been selected to the 2015-16 Big Ten Women’s Golfers to Watch List, the conference announced Wednesday.
Ihm competed in all six spring competitions, tallying a 76.7 scoring average — the third best average on the team. The senior shot a season-low second round 70 (-2) at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona, and earned a top-12 finish at the BYU Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah, with a three round 220 (+4; 75, 74 and 71).
Sindlinger competed in all six competitions in the spring, registered a 76.5 scoring average — the second best scoring average on the team. The Charles City, Iowa, native shot a third round 68 (-4) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Feb. 23, 2014, tying the Iowa women’s golf record for second lowest 18-hole score all-time. The junior was the team’s top finisher at the Big Ten Championships with a three round 226, including rounds of 77, 78 and 71.
Ip impressed in her first season for the Hawkeyes, competing in all six spring competitions and posting a 77.7 scoring average. She paced the team with a 12th-place finish at the Lady Buckeye Invite on April 18-19, carding a three-round 226 (+10) with rounds of 73, 73, and 80.
The Hawkeyes kick off their season hosting the Diane Thomason Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course on Sept. 12-13. Last year, Iowa finished second in the 13-team field.
