IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa assistant football coach Chris White was named CoachingSearch.com Running Backs Coach of the Week following Iowa’s 40-10 win at No. 20 Northwestern.
The Hawkeyes rushed for a season-high 294 yards against a Northwestern team that entered the game ranked second in the Big Ten in rush defense.
Sophomore Akrum Wadley rushed for a career-high 204 yards on a career-best 26 carries. He tied the school record with four rushing touchdowns. Sophomore Derrick Mitchell, Jr. added a rushing score and a career-high 79 rushing yards.
Iowa, ranked No. 12 by the Associated Press, takes a 7-0 record into its only bye week of the season. The Hawkeyes return to the field Oct. 31, hosting Maryland at 2:30 p.m. (CT) at Kinnick Stadium.
