Dear fan of the Hawkeyes:
Yesterday was a historic day at historic Kinnick Stadium.
At midday, a college wrestling record crowd of 42,287 assembled to support Tom Brands’ Iowa wrestling team for its upset of No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State in the “Grapple on the Gridiron.” In the evening, a sellout crowd of 70,585 returned to the home of the Hawkeyes to cheer the undefeated and nationally ranked UI football team to a record-setting victory in the annual battle for Floyd of Rosedale against Big Ten Conference rival Minnesota.
Kinnick was electric. It was rocking from start to finish. And our student-athletes on the mat and on the gridiron responded with spectacular performances.
Next Saturday, the Iowa football team returns to Kinnick for “Senior Day” against Purdue. Game time is set for 11 a.m. (CT). This will be the final appearance in Kinnick for 20 seniors who are the backbone of this record-setting collection of Hawkeyes, a group that will be playing for a perfect 7-0 record at home this fall and the opportunity to be crowned champion of the West Division of the Big Ten Conference.
The Hawkeyes will be at Kinnick on Saturday. We need you there to share in these special accomplishments.
If you already have tickets to the game, thank you for your support. Please consider encouraging other fans of the Hawkeyes to join you.
If you have been to a game this fall, but don’t have ticket for Saturday, please consider making a return visit to Kinnick.
If you haven’t made it to Kinnick this fall, this is your final opportunity…and what an opportunity it is – a chance to cheer the Hawkeyes to a perfect season in Kinnick and advance to Indianapolis for the 2015 Big Ten Conference Football Championship Game.
