Hawkeyes 10th Through 36 Holes at Westbrook Spring Invite

PEORIA, Ariz. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team is tied for 10th in a field of 15 following the first two rounds of the Westbrook Spring Invitational Sunday. The Hawkeyes posted scores of 293 and 292 on the first 36 holes at Westbrook Village Vistas Golf Course for a total of 585 (+9).

Oregon leads the field (-9; 567), while Kansas State and UNLV tie for second (-3; 573).

Sophomore Jessica Ip paced the Hawkeyes with a two-round total of 144 (E; 68, 76) to secure 19th place heading to the final round. Ip’s two rounds were highlighted by 28 holes at or below par, including an eagle on hole five. The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native’s first round score of 68 marks a new career best.

Junior Jessie Sindlinger also had a strong day for the Hawkeyes, posting a two-round score of 145 (+1), registering rounds of 72 (E) and 73 (+1). Sindlinger made par or better on 16 holes in her first round and added a birdie on holes six, eight, and 13 in round two. She is tied for 23rd heading to the final round.

Senior Amy Ihm posted rounds of 75 (+3) and 71 (-1) for a two-round score of 146 (+2). Her rounds were highlighted by 27 holes at par and birdies on holes five (twice), 17 and 18. The senior is tied for 30th with one round left to play.

Rounding out the Hawkeyes are sophomore Elisa Suarez and freshman Kristin Glesne, who are tied for 64th (+7; 78, 73) and 77th (+11; 80, 75), respectively. Senior Briana Midkiff — competing as an individual — is tied for 81st with a two round total of 156 (+12).

The final round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational begins tomorrow with a 9:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. Live scoring is available at birdiefire.com.
