IOWA CITY, Iowa — Senior Alie Glover and juniors Angel Metcalf and Mollie Drenth of the University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Drenth earned first team accolades, while Glover and Metcalf were both named to the second team. Twenty-nine gymnasts were honored — 16 to the conference’s first team and 13 to the second team. All-Big Ten selections are determined by regional qualifying scores.

Drenth — a Big Ten Preseason Gymnast to Watch — has registered the top score for Iowa on vault (9.950), beam (9.925), and in the all around (39.475) this season. She has competed in all 12 meets, appearing in the all-around for every meet. Drenth is nationally ranked in three events to lead Iowa, including 14th on beam (9.895 RQS), 20th in the all-around (39.340), and 51st on vault (9.845). So far this season, the junior has collected seven event titles on beam, seven all-around titles, three vault titles, and a floor title.

Glover registered the top score for Iowa on floor this year with a 9.925 effort at the Big Five Meet on March 12. She has competed in all 12 meets for the Hawkeyes, appearing on vault, floor, and beam. Glover is ranked 42 nationally on floor with a regional qualifying score of 9.880. The senior has collected four event titles on floor and one on beam this season.

Metcalf — a Big Ten Preseason Gymnast to Watch — has competed in all 12 meets, appearing in the all-around 11 times. The Swansboro, North Carolina, native ranks 32nd nationally in the all-around (39.235 RQS), 35th on beam (9.870), and 69th on bars (9.845). The junior has collected two event titles on bars and one on beam this season.

Iowa continues postseason action at the 2016 Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 19 at the Devaney Center. Fans can watch the competition live on the Big Ten Network.

Based on the results from the two Big Five Meets last weekend, teams were placed in one of two sessions for Saturday’s conference championships. Iowa, Maryland, Illinois, and Rutgers will compete in the first session at 11 a.m. (CT). The evening session, which begins at 4 p.m., features Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Penn State.
