    IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three members of the University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Atlanta to compete in the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The event will be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center from Wednesday through Saturday.

    This is the second NCAA Championships for juniors Emma Sougstad and Calli Head and marks the first year for junior Lydia Lehnert.

    Sougstad will be competing in three events — 200 IM, 100 breast and 200 breast. She enters the championship with the ninth-fastest time in the 100-breast after swimming a time of 59.22 at the Big Ten Championships.

    The Forest City, Iowa native swam the same three events at last year’s NCAA Championships, finishing 18th in the 100-breast (59.96), 29th in the 200-breast (2:11.20), and 42nd in the 200-IM (1:59.12).

    Head will be competing off of the platform for the second year in a row. She claimed this spot after finishing seventh at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on March 9 in College Station, Texas. Lehnert also qualified on the platform, after finishing ninth.

    Head placed 40th on the platform at the 2015 NCAA Championships with a score of 208.70.

    Thursday, March 17
    Sougstad – 200 IM – 9 a.m. (prelims)/5 p.m. (finals)

    Friday, March 18
    Sougstad – 100 Breast – 9 a.m. (prelims)/5 p.m. (finals)

    Saturday, March 19
    Sougstad – 200 Breast – 9 a.m. (prelims)/5 p.m. (finals)
    Head, Lehnert – Platform – 11:15 a.m. (trials)/5 p.m. (finals)
