2 Hawkeyes Compete at Battle in the Bay Classic

SAN FRANCISCO — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team saw two student-athletes compete today at the Battle in the Bay Classic hosted by the University of San Francisco.
 
Junior Jake Jacoby and redshirt freshman Kareem Allaf began play on the doubles court where they faced Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin of Boise State. The Hawkeye duo were edged, 8-6.
 
Jacoby took on Johan Jonhagen of San Francisco in singles competition and fell, 7-6(3), 6-3. The Arkansas Native received a first round bye in the consolation bracket. In second round action, he faced Pedro Iamachkine of Pepperdine and won, 6-4, 6-4.
 
Allaf competed against Brain Tran of Boise State in his first singles match as a Hawkeye and lost in a three-set decision, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. In consolation action, Allaf received first and second round byes. He will begin consolation play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (PT).
