IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletic Communications office today announced the appointment of Cari Gold as assistant director.
Gold will serve as the primary contact for the volleyball, softball, women’s gymnastics, and rowing programs, while assisting with additional areas of publicity as well. She began her duties on Thursday.
Gold joins the Iowa staff after a year and a half at New Mexico State, where she was assistant director of media relations. While with the Aggies, Gold was the primary contact for football, softball, and equestrian. Gold handled all forms of publications, including game notes, media guides and press releases for each of these sports, in addition to all aspects of social media.
Prior to New Mexico State, Gold spent a year at the University of Louisiana Monroe as the media relations assistant. At ULM, she worked with women’s basketball and tennis, and was the secondary contact for football. In addition to her sports, Gold worked closely with the director of athletics on various projects.
Gold attended graduate school at LSU, where she spent a year and a half as a sports information assistant. She assisted with football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and volleyball. In addition, Gold was the primary contact for the LSU women’s tennis team.
Gold has worked with the Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament, NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds, American Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, NCAA Baseball Regionals and Super Regionals, and the College Basketball Invitational.
Gold earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in sport management from Christian Brothers University, and a master’s in kinesiology with a concentration in sport management from LSU.
