IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior guard Ally Disterhoftwas named Preseason All-Big Ten by the coaches and media, the Big Ten Conference announced Monday.

The team-elected captain was a second team All-Big Ten selection in 2015 and 2016 and an honorable mention All-Big Ten honoree in 2014. She was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team in 2014.

Disterhoft scored in double figures every game last season (33). She became the program’s highest scoring junior, netting 565 points to break Michelle Edwards’ record of 564 points set in 1986-87.

In her career, the Iowa City, Iowa, native has netted 1,542 points (11th all-time) and 116 3-point field goals (12th all-time). She ranks 14th on Iowa’s career blocks list (53) and 18th in rebounds (609). Disterhoft has played in every game of her collegiate career (103), making 84 consecutive starts. She has scored in double figures in 78-of-84 career starts.

Disterhoft also excels off the court. The senior was named Academic All-American of the Year and first team Academic All-America in 2016. She owned the highest GPA (4.03) of any Academic All-American last season and was the only junior to be named to the first team. Disterhoft was also the only sophomore to earn CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American accolades in 2015 (third team).

The Hawkeyes tip off the 2016-17 season with an exhibition contest against Lewis University on Sunday, Nov. 6, before hosting Oral Roberts in their season opener on Nov. 11.
