UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – The No. 8 University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team fell to No. 6 Penn State, 420.400-414.000, on Saturday. Iowa won three event titles to highlight the meet, including senior Andrew Botto’s all-around victory (80.850).

Iowa scored 68.500 on floor. Freshman Andrew Herrador led the way, winning the event title with a season-best score of 14.400. Senior Mark Springett finished in third with a score of 14.250.

Senior Cory Paterson helped the Hawkeyes score 68.750 on high bar as he won the event title (14.050). Junior Austin Hodges finished right behind in the runner-up position with a score of 13.900. Botto and Herrador rounded out the top-five with Botto tying for third (13.750) and Herrador finishing fifth (13.650).

The Hawkeyes scored 70.850 on vault. Botto finished runner-up with a score of 14.450. Freshman Josh Zeal finished fourth with a score of 14.300.

Iowa scored a season-best 69.150 on pommel horse. Hodges finished in fourth with a score of 14.400. Freshman Nick Merryman scored a season-best 14.100 to finish seventh, sophomore Kevin Johnson notched a season-best 13.850 to finish eighth and Paterson tallied a season-best 13.700 to finish ninth.

Botto finished runner-up on rings (14.600) to help the Hawkeyes score 68.900. Sophomore Jake Brodarzon recorded a season-best 13.950 to finish fifth.

The Hawkeyes tallied 67.850 on parallel bars. Hodges finished runner-up with a score of 14.350.

The Hawkeyes travel to Champaign, Illinois, to compete at the Big Ten Championships on April 7-8. Competition is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. (CT) at Huff Hall.
