Jarrod Uthoff is the latest former University of Iowa men’s basketball player to join the NBA. Uthoff will close out the season with the Dallas Mavericks and play in their summer league. In baseball, the Hawkeyes host a weekend series against UNLV.

The women’s basketball season came to a close for the University of Iowa in the final eight of the WNIT on March 26. The Hawkeyes led, 20-17, after the first quarter, but fell to Washington State, 74-66, inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa has plenty to build on for next season, but the Hawkeyes will have to do it without senior Ally Disterhoft, the school’s all-time leading scorer.

Megan Gustafson recorded her 18th double-double of the season Sunday with 19 points and 15 rebounds and Ally Disterhoft added 16 points, but the University of Iowa women’s basketball team lost at home to Washington State, 74-66, ending its WNIT run. In baseball, the Hawkeyes (13-9) used a five-run eighth inning to knock off Purdue, 7-2, and take the weekend series, two games to one.

The University of Iowa women’s basketball team never trailed and rolled to an 80-62 victory over Colorado in the WNIT on Thursday in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It was the 20th victory of the season for the Hawkeyes and career win No. 699 for head coach Lisa Bluder.

Winning statistics have emerged for the University of Iowa women’s basketball team during its first two victories in the WNIT. The Hawkeyes have scored 86 points in the paint, handed out 46 assists, and made 29-of-36 free throws in wins over Missouri State and South Dakota. Iowa hosts Colorado on Thursday in a third-round WNIT game in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (CT).

Ally Disterhoft became the all-time leading scorer in University of Iowa women’s basketball history during the Hawkeyes’ 96-74 win over Missouri State in the WNIT on March 16.  Iowa returns to action Saturday against South Dakota, while the men host TCU on Sunday at 4 p.m. (CT) in the NIT. Iowa’s wrestlers are in fourth at the NCAA Championships heading into Friday’s quarterfinals.

Freshmen Jordan Bohannon and Tyler Cook added to the University of Iowa’s 170th birthday party Feb. 25 as the Hawkeye men’s basketball team defeated Maryland, 83-69, in College Park, Maryland. The duo combined for 45 points and Bohannon made eight 3-point field goals. The Iowa women defeated Wisconsin, 71-60, on Senior Day yesterday in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Tania Davis (23 points) and Kathleen Doyle (17) netted career-highs leading the University of Iowa women’s basketball team past Iowa State, 88-76, in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes shot 57 percent from the field and 62 percent from 3-point. In the third quarter they were 8-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line. Iowa hosts Robert Morris on Friday at 7 p.m. (CT).

Four times in his career Beathard has thrown three touchdown passes in a game. He knows there is still plenty to play for as Iowa moves on to play at Rutgers on Sept. 24.
