THIS WEEK:
- The University of Iowa men’s tennis team hosts No. 16 Michigan at 4 p.m. Friday outside at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
- On Sunday, the Hawkeyes matchup against Michigan State (10-15) and North Dakota (5-14).
- Iowa takes on the the Spartans at Noon (CT).
- The contest against North Dakota will be held at 5 p.m. (CT).
- Admission is free to the public.
SENIOR SUNDAY
- The Hawkeyes will be celebrating Senior Day after the Michigan State match on Sunday.
- Robin Haden and Nils Hallestrand will honored at approximately 2:30 p.m. (CT).
- Haden has competed in 77 singles and 47 doubles matches in his two years as a Hawkeye.
- He defeated Ben Vandixhorn of Northwestern and Renan Hanayama of Purdue earlier this season.
- Hallestrand has competed in 57 singles and 56 doubles matches in his four years as a Hawkeye.
- He has six doubles victories with Haden.
- The pair are both from Danderyd, Sweden and grew up playing at together in juniors.
RECRUITS
- The men’s tennis program welcomes a 2017 recruiting class ranked 17th nationally
- Iowa announced Friday that Piotr Smietana of Krakow, Poland, will join the Hawkeyes next season.
- Smietana has an ITF World Junior ranking of 275.
- He is a three-time Polish National Champion.
- Smietana is a member of the Polish Davis Cup team.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN
- The Wolverines have three ranked singles athletes: No. 81 Jathan Malik, No. 109 Alex Knight, and No. 111 Myles Schalet.
- The also have two ranked doubles teams: No. 11 Jathan Malik and Connor Johnston and No. 24 Jathan Malik and Kevin Wong.
