Iowa Travels to Kansas for Lone Exhibition

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s soccer team begins the 2017 season on the road with an exhibition match at Kansas on Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Rock Chalk Park.

The Hawkeyes return nine starters from the eight-win 2016 season.  Iowa’s top returning goal scorer is senior Karly Stuenkel, who netted five goals as a junior. Stuenkel was Iowa’s Co-MVP and team Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. The Hawkeyes also return Defensive Player of the Year Morgan Kemerling, goalkeeper Claire Graves, who started every game in goal, and 2016 Newcomer of the Year Natalie Winters. 

Iowa also has added five newcomers to the mix – four freshmen and Mercer transfer Emma Tokuyama.

The Hawkeyes open the regular season on the road, facing VCU on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. (CT) in Richmond, Virginia.
