IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa soccer team earned the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year. It is the 11th straight year the Hawkeyes have received the recognition.
Iowa was among a total of 531 women’s soccer teams from across the country to receive the honor. To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
The Hawkeyes held a team GPA of 3.29 during the 2016-17 academic year. The program has received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award 15 times in its history.
Iowa returns to action tonight, hosting No. 23 Rutgers at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex. Admission is free.
