COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team faces its third Big Ten opponent in as many weeks, traveling to Maryland on Thursday. The meet is slated for 5 p.m. (CT) at the XFINITY Center.

THE COMPETITION
Led by head coach Brett Nelligan, Maryland holds an overall record of 4-3 and conference mark of 1-1. The Terrapins are ranked No. 35 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten Conference. Nationally, the team is also ranked 26th on beam (48.775 average), 38th on bars (48.467), 40th on vault (48.700), and 44th on floor (48.617). Maryland returns 11 letterwinners off its 2017 squad and welcome five newcomers, including Preseason Gymnast to watch Audrey Barber.
 
UNDEFEATED IN THE BIG TEN
Iowa holds a conference record of 2-0 after defeating both Michigan State and Ohio State.
 
Iowa notched its first conference win on Jan. 13, defeating Michigan State, 193.375-192.900, in East Lansing, Michigan. Two GymHawks took home titles and the team registered 12 top-three finishes.
 
Iowa tallied its second consecutive Big Ten victory over Ohio State, 195.725-195.300, at its home opener at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Jan. 19. Six GymHawks won titles and the team registered season highs in every event.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
Iowa is ranked fourth in the Big Ten Conference and No. 42 in the nation.
 
As a team, the GymHawks rank 28th on floor (48.908 average), 37th on vault (48.733), 39th on beam (48.500), and 55th on bars (47.892).
 
Four Hawkeyes rank in the top 100 nationally in event standings:
All-Around: Sophomore Charlotte Sullivan ranks 66th in the all-around (38.850).
Vault: Senior Nikki Youd stands at 75th (9.808) in vault rankings.
Beam: On beam, Youd ranks 70th (9.817), sophomore Clair Kaji ranks 79th (9.808), and Sullivan ranks 88th (9.800).
Floor: Senior Lanie Snyder stands at 80th (9.817) in floor standings.
