Iowa City, Iowa — University of Iowa freshman Rachel Fujitani has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Bruzzy Challenge on April 2-3, the conference announced on Wednesday. It is the first honor of her career.
Fujitani fired three birdies in round two to finish with a 36-hole score of 150 (+6). She finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 229 (+13). Her 13th-place finish marked a career-best.
The Phoenix, Arizona, native is the first Hawkeye to earn a Golfer of the Week award since Amy Ihm earned the honor on March 16, 2016.
The Hawkeyes travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships on April 20-22.
