IOWA CITY, Iowa — The No. 9 University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team has been selected to the 2018 NCAA National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championship Qualifier, the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee announced Tuesday.
The championship qualifier, which consists of two pre-qualifying sessions, will be held at the UIC Pavilion on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago on April 20.
The top three squads from each session plus the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams and the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor from each session will advance to the NCAA finals on April 21.
The Hawkeyes are 1-of-12 teams selected to compete at the NCAA Championship Qualifier. Iowa, who qualified with a score of 402.850, enters the qualifier with a No. 9 national ranking.
In its history, the Iowa men’s gymnastics program has made 51 NCAA Championship appearances, crowned 11 individual event champions, and won one national championship in 1969.
