ARLINGTON, Texas — University of Iowa junior defensive back Joshua Jackson was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of Friday’s NFL Draft at AT&T Stadium. Jackson was the 45th player picked overall.
A native of Corinth, Texas, Jackson is the 11th Hawkeye defensive back chosen in the NFL Draft since 2003.
Jackson, the Big Ten Conference’s Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year, made 48 tackles in 13 games with 18 pass breakups. He returned eight interceptions 168 yards for two touchdowns.
The Packers finished 7-9 last season, third in the NFC North Division. Jackson will join two other Hawkeyes in Green Bay: offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga and defensive lineman Mike Daniels. In 2013, the Packers selected Iowa defensive back Micah Hyde in the fifth round. Hyde played four seasons in Green Bay.
Iowa has had at least one player drafted in every NFL Draft since 1978.
Jackson is the 65th player coached by Kirk Ferentz at the University of Iowa to be selected in the NFL Draft.
