Graves Named B1G Goalkeeper of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Claire Graves has been named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.  It is the second weekly honor of Graves’ career.
 
The Noblesville, Indiana, native earned the distinction after posting a pair of shutouts and making 11 saves during the season-opening weekend.
 
Graves made six stops in a scoreless draw against Missouri in the season opener Aug. 17 before making five saves in the 2-0 victory over Creighton two days later.  They were her 12th and 13th career shutouts.
 
It is the second honor of Graves’ career as she was selected as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 10 last season. 
 
Iowa (1-0-1) returns to action Friday, facing No. 21 Washington State in a neutral site matchup in Minneapolis.  The Hawkeyes are home Sunday, hosting Indiana State at 1 p.m.
