IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa men’s tennis junior Kareem Allaf advanced to the Round of 16 in the consolation bracket at the ITA National Fall Championships Thursday afternoon.

“I played a lot better today, my serve was great, and I wasn’t making any mistakes,” Allaf said. “I got more adjusted to the conditions and the courts today and played better tennis. Practicing after my match yesterday really helped.”

Allaf bounced Trevor Foshey of Mississippi State in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Foshey was a member of the SEC All-Tournament Team a year ago. Allaf has won eight out of his last nine singles matches.

Allaf will take 19th-ranked player Alex Lebedev of Notre Dame tomorrow.
