IOWA CITY, Iowa — For the second straight week, University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson was named the Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Gustafson averaged 24.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and shot 84.6 percent to lead Iowa to wins over Western Kentucky and North Carolina Central last week. She set a Big Ten record with a perfect 13-for-13 shooting performance from the field at Western Kentucky on Nov. 13. She became the first Hawkeye to register a perfect shooting percentage (min. 9 attempts) since Jamie Cavey (9-for-9 vs. Marquette) in 2003.

The Port Wing, Wisconsin, native also notched her 1,000th career rebound against the Hilltoppers. She is just the second Hawkeye in program history to eclipse 1,000 rebounds in her career.

On Nov. 17, Gustafson registered 20 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes of action against North Carolina Central. It marked the 58th double-double of her career.

The conference award is the 12th of Gustafson’s career. She broke a Big Ten single-season record last season with nine Player of the Week honors. Gustafson was also named to the conference’s weekly honor roll six times.

No. 12/17 Iowa returns to action on Friday, taking on No. 25 West Virginia in the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas. Tipoff is at 4:15 p.m. (CT).
