Mathews Named B1G Diver of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Jayah Mathews has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the league office.  It is Mathews’ second career accolade.
 
The Sydney, Australia, native swept the springboard events at the Hawkeye Invitational last weekend in Iowa City. Mathews finished first off the 1-meter (315.75) and 3-meter (365.75), tallying NCAA Zone qualifying standards in both events. 
 
Mathews’ score off the 3-meter was a Hawkeye Invitational meet record. 
 
Mathews earned her first career Big Ten Diver of the Week honor on Feb. 7, 2018.
 
Iowa returns to action Dec. 7, hosting Iowa State in an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center at 6 p.m. (CT).
