IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team was selected as a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Committee’s first top-16 reveal. The announcement was made Monday on ESPN2.

If the season ended today, the Hawkeyes would be the No. 10 overall seed, and host the NCAA First and Second Rounds in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes are 19-5 overall and 10-3 in the Big Ten Conference. Iowa is in second place in the conference standings, one game behind No. 7 Maryland.

In 24 games this season, the Hawkeyes are shooting 52.3 percent from the field – the second-best mark in the nation. Iowa’s 22.3 assists per game ranks second in the NCAA.

The Hawkeyes are led by senior Megan Gustafson. The Port Wing, Wisconsin, native leads the nation in points per game (27.3), ranks second in field goal percentage (70.6), and fourth in rebounding (12.8).
