IOWA CITY, Iowa — Following two wins at home to open the spring schedule, the University of Iowa soccer team will travel to Ames, Iowa, to face Drake and Iowa State on Sunday.

The Hawkeyes will take on Drake at 12:15 p.m. (CT), followed by a 2:45 p.m. matchup with Iowa State.

“I am excited about playing Iowa State and Drake,” said Iowa head coach Dave DiIanni. “It is the big four in Iowa and we are going to have the chance to play each other and have a little bit of a championship weekend, so there should be no lack of momentum or motivation to compete.”

“It will give us a chance to play against two teams that play a different style. Our biggest thing is that we have to build on the successes and create a stronger foundation. We are getting to a point where we want to end this portion of our spring on a high note and that builds into this weekend, then take a break with spring break.”

Iowa last faced Drake in 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa, when the Hawkeyes topped the Bulldogs, 1-0.

During the regular season, the Hawkeyes fell, 1-2, to the Cyclones in Ames. Iowa’s lone goal was scored by redshirt senior forward Kaleigh Haus. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Cora Meyers made her first career start against Iowa State, tallying four saves in the loss. The Hawkeyes outshot the Cyclones, 16-13.
