IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa track and field team travels to Tempe, Arizona, for the Baldy Castillo Invitational, the first outdoor meet of the season, on Friday and Saturday.

The Hawkeyes head into the outdoor season one week after the 2019 NCAA Indoor track and field championships, where eight student-athletes earned first-team and six earned second-team All-America honors.

Iowa also returns eight 2018 NCAA Outdoor All-Americans, including juniors Laulauga Tausaga (discus, shot put), Collin Hofacker (400-meter relay, 1,600-meter relay), Matt Manternach (800 meters), and Antonio Woodard (400-meter relay, 1,600-meter relay), and seniors Mar’yea Harris (400 meters, 400-meter relay,1,600-meter relay), Chris Douglas (110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles), DeJuan Frye (1,600-meter relay) and Reno Tuufuli (discus, shot put).

Field events begin on Friday with the men’s discus at 12:30 p.m. (CT), and running events begin with the women’s 100-meter hurdles at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Hawkeyes kick of the field events in the women’s discus at noon, and the running events will continue with the 3,200-meter relay at 3:30 p.m. A full schedule is linked on the Iowa track and field schedule page.
