CHAMPAIGN, Illinois — The 41st-ranked University of Iowa men’s tennis team lost to 14th-ranked Illinois, 5-1, on Sunday at the Atkins Tennis Center.
The doubles point was a tightly-contested battle. The Hawkeyes won the first match on court two, 6-3, with Kareem Allaf and Jonas Larsen posting a 6-3 win over Clark/Khlif. The Fighting Illini eventually clinched the doubles point with wins on courts three (6-4) and one (7-6).
In singles competition, Illinois beat the Hawkeyes on five of six courts. Will Davies was the only victorious Hawkeye, winning in straight sets on court five for a team-best 14th time this spring.

Iowa returns home next weekend hosting Penn State on Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) and Ohio State at 11 a.m. (CT) on Sunday. Admission is free at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex. The Hawkeyes are 10-1 in home matches this season.
