Reive and Staff Named Central Region Staff of the Year

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa men’s gymnastics head coach JD Reive earned Central Region Head Coach of the Year while assistant coaches Tom Buese and Ben Ketelsen garnered Central Region Assistant Coaches of the Year, the CGA announced Thursday.
 
The staff coached the Hawkeyes to a five-win season which led to a regular season Big Ten Championship title. Reive and his staff led two newcomers, Stewart Brown and Evan Davis, to Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.
 
The Hawkeyes garnered three upset wins this season against No. 3 Michigan in Ann Arbor, No. 7 Nebraska at the UI Fieldhouse, and No. 5 Penn State.
 
Reive earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors three times while he coached at Stanford. This is his first Head Coach of the Year honor and Buese and Ketelsen’s first Assistant Coach of the Year awards.
 
The Hawkeyes open NCAA Championship Action on Friday at 7 p.n. (CT) in Champaign, Illinois. It is Iowa’s 20th straight NCAA appearance.
