IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa soccer team will close out its spring schedule against Missouri on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. (CT) in Columbia, Missouri.
The Hawkeyes are 6-0 in spring and outscoring opponents, 18-2.
“You have two very similar teams that graduated small senior classes, so both teams are hoping to make big strides this spring in terms of gaining momentum heading into the summer,” said Iowa head coach Dave DiIanni. “For us it has never really been about the results, it has been about the process.
“Missouri is another opportunity for us to get better individually and as a team. For us, we would need to do a better job in position out of pressure and want to be sound defensively. Those are the two areas we are going to focus on.”
Iowa and Missouri faced off in the fall in a game that ended scoreless after going to double overtime in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes won the last meeting in Columbia, 2-1, in overtime in 2016. The Tigers lead the all-time series 1-9-0.
The Tigers finished 2018 with a 6-11-2 overall record and a 3-6-1 record in SEC play.
