IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team announced the addition of Bobby Hughes to the coaching staff. Hughes will be in charge of Iowa’s defensive efforts.
Hughes, the former owner and director of Skyline Volleyball Club, joins the Hawkeye staff with 12 years of high school volleyball coaching experience, winning three Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Regional volleyball championships at Regina Dominican High School.
In 2017, Hughes was awarded the USA Volleyball Robert Lindsay Meritorious Award for his outstanding volleyball service in and around his community.
From 2015-18, Hughes coached the boys freshman volleyball team at Loyola Academy and prior to that, Hughes led the coaching efforts for Notre Dame College Prep’s boys freshman team (2009-13).
Hughes graduated from Texas Christian University in 2003. He was a four-year member of the TCU men’s club volleyball team, including team captain in 2003.
