24 Hawkeyes to Watch 2019-20 | Hawk Talk Monthly — October | Fight For Iowa

TULSA, Okla. — University of Iowa senior Kareem Allaf lost Wednesday afternoon after a few hours of rain delays to the No. 11 ranked player in the country, Ohio State’s John McNally, in the Main Draw of the ITA All-American Men’s Tennis Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Allaf led 5-3 in the first set before losing in the tiebreak. Allaf hadn’t surrendered a set the entire tournament until then. McNally ultimately won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2.

Allaf, ranked No. 69 nationally, became only the second Hawkeye in program history to advance to the main draw (top 64 players) of this tournament, joining Marc Bruche (2011).

Four Hawkeyes begin their seasons this weekend in East Lansing, Michigan, at the Spartan Invite at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Center. Matt Clegg, Will Davies, Nikita Snezhko, and Joe Tyler are set to compete.
