IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa soccer team lost a tough 1-0 battle against No. 19/21 Rutgers on Friday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes are now 4-3-0 in B1G play and 12-3-0 overall.

The game deciding goal was scored in the 29th minute when Amanda Visco scored on a header following a corner kick assist from Taylor Aylmer.

The Hawkeyes had some chances to find the equalizing goal with four corner kicks in the second half, but they were unable to capitalize.

HEAD COACH DAVE DIIANNI SAYS…
“I really liked how our kids played, their mentality was right. We asked them to compete and work hard and be brave on the ball. I thought we really did a nice job with that. Almost 70 percent of our possession was in their end and they’re a very difficult team to break down if you don’t catch them in transition. We are going to get better from today, and get ready to face Maryland on Sunday.”
