Doyle Named to Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Kathleen Doyle has been named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award preseason watch list, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
 
The list is comprised of 20 student-athletes who are the early front runners for the 2020 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, which recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Doyle enters her senior season with 993 career points and 517 assists. She averaged 12 points per game during her junior season, scoring in double figures 20 times. Doyle registered single-season career highs in points (348), 3-pointers made (36), field goals made (124), and field goal percentage (.396).
 
The LaGrange Park, Illinois, native finished last season ranked 15th nationally in assists per game (5.9) and 31st in total assists (170). She led the Big Ten with 7.5 assists per game and ranked sixth in steals per game (2.0) in conference action last season. She dished out five or more assists on 21 occasions.
 
The Hawkeyes open the 2019-20 season with an exhibition contest against Winona State on Nov. 3. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. (CT) in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
