SOUTH BEND, Ind — The University of Iowa swimming and diving team completed the Shamrock Invitational with a second-place finish from the men, boasting 917 points, followed by a fourth-place finish from the women with 629.5 points.
 
GOLDEN RACES
Freshman Millie Sansome broke her own school record in the 200 back in 1:55.94, and led a force with fellow freshmen Julia Koluch and Kennedy Gilberston. Koluch moved to fifth all-time in program history with a time of 1:57.46, followed by Gilbertson at eighth in 1:58.75.
 
Sophomore Anze Fers Erzen won the men’s 200 back in 1:42.97, less than half a second off his career best.  
 
Sophomore Aleksey Tarasenko emerged on top in the 100 free in 43.95, accompanied by seniors Joe Myhre (fourth, 44.57), Steve Fiolic (fifth, 45.05), Will Scott (sixth, 45.11), and freshman Sergey Kuznetsov (ninth, 45.54) all placing in the top-10. Senior Hannah Burvill took second in the 100 free, notching a 49.60.
 
Junior Daniel Swanepoel tabbed third in the 200 breast in 2:00.29, joined by freshman Will Myhre (6th, 2:01.08), and senior Weston Credit (10th, 2:02.34).
 
Senior Michael Tenney captured Iowa’s final victory of the invite in the 200 fly in 1:46.56, and was trailed by Mateusz Arndt at sixth (1:48.58) and Sergey Kuznetsov in ninth (1:49.12).
 
TOP-10 COMPETITION
Mateusz Arndt (15:36.13), Andrew Fierke (15:44.91), Evan Holt (15:45.46), and Tom Schab (15:48.60) finished in line 7-8-9-10 in the 1,650 free, heading the only distance event of the day.
 
HITTING THE BOARDS
Jayah Mathews collected a silver on the 1-meter springboard, posting a score of 295.70.
 
Anton Hoherz (345.30) and Mohamed Neuman (330.55) dove to fifth and sixth place finishes on the 3-meter springboard.
 
RELAYS KEEP PROMISE
The women’s 400-free relay team of senior Allyssa Fluit, Burvill, Gilbertson, and freshman Macy Rink, took third with a time of 3:19.42. The team of Schemmel, Sansome, McDougall, and Ziegert placed fifth in 3:24.13.
 
The men’s 400-free relay of Tarasenko, Fiolic, Scott, and Joe Myhre was second in a time of 2:55.46.
