Doyle Named to Naismith and Meyers Drysdale Lists

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Kathleen Doyle has been named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Top-30 team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced, and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Top-10 list, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced, on Tuesday.
 
The Citizen Naismith Trophy is awarded to the top player in Division I women’s basketball, and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is presented to the top shooting guard in the country.

Doyle, a La Grange Park, Illinois, native is averaging 18.7 points, 6.5 assists, and shooting 45.8 percent from the field in 24 games this season. In 13 conference contests, Doyle averages 21.3 points and 6.6 assists. She is shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 79.6 percent from the free throw line in conference action.

The Naismith Awards Board of Selectors will identify the 10 national semifinalists on March 3. Four finalists will be revealed on March 20. The Citizen Naismith Trophy will be announced on April 4. Doyle is one of three Big Ten student-athletes included on the list (Kaila Charles, Ali Patberg).
 
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Selection Committee is composed of top women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ann Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner will be announced on April 10 at the College Basketball Awards show. New to the award this season fans can vote. Voting will go live Friday, February 14 on hoophallawards.com. Doyle and Northwestern’s Lindsey Pulliam are the only Big Ten athletes on the list.
 
Doyle and the Hawkeyes head to Maryland on to play at Xfinity Center in College Park, Maryland. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. (CT).
