IOWA CITY Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s tennis program set a school record when six Hawkeyes were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athletes on Monday.
Six of Iowa’s eight student-athletes earned the academic distinction: Will Davies, Jason Kerst, Morgan Lohan, Oliver Okonkwo, Nikita Snezhko, and Joe Tyler. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.5 for the academic year.
In addition to the ITA accolade, Kerst (business management), Lohan (finance), and Okonkwo (biochemistry) were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars earlier this month, and Davies (business management) and Snezhko (pre-business) joined the previously mentioned trio on the Academic All-Big Ten Team.
The team was also honored as an ITA All-Academic Team after registering a team grade point average of 3.2 or above. The Hawkeyes boasted a spring semester team GPA of 3.84.
