IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa men’s gymnasts Bennet Huang and Stewart Brown have been named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch, it was announced Wednesday by the Big Ten office.
Huang, a senior from Palo Alto, California, qualified for the Winter Cup as a junior where he finished 27th in the all-around. Huang was the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on March 7, 2020, after winning the all-around at Ohio State.
Brown, junior from Taylorsville, North Carolina, competed in five events during the shortened 2020 season. Brown was an All-American on parallel bars after placing seventh at the NCAA Championships and he placed third on vault at the Big Ten Championships in 2019.
The Hawkeyes were picked to finish seventh in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll in a vote of the league’s seven head coaches. Michigan was the unanimous favorite.
Iowa opens the season Jan. 30 at Minnesota at 6 p.m. (CT).
