Hawkeyes Close Day 1 of Rebel Beach Invite

LAS VEGAS  — The Hawkeyes finished the first round of the UNLV Rebel Beach Invitational tied for fourth place with a first-round score of 304 (+16) and sitting five under par with a handful of holes left in the second round. Freshman Klara Wildhaber led the Hawkeyes’ first round with a score of 72 (E).

The teams were scheduled to play 36 holes on day one, but none of the teams were able to finish both rounds. Fresno State leads the competition with a first-round score of 287 (-1), followed by Gonzaga with 292 (+4).

Wildhaber and sophomore Lea Zeitler both sit even with par. Wildhaber has carded six birdies and 18 holes at par, and Zeitler has tallied eight birdies — two birdies in the first round and six in the second round. Morgan Goldstein tied for 11th with a score of 76 (+4) through the first round, and shooting -2 through 33 holes. Goldstein has collected four birdies and 24 holes at par.

Sophomore Jacque Galloway ended the day tying for 56th, shooting 80(+8) in the first round and +1 through 32 holes. Junior Dana Learner recorded two birdies and 16 at par through 33 holes.

The Hawkeyes will complete round two beginning at 10 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday with a shotgun start. The third and final round will start immediately after.
