IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa soccer team will face top-seeded Penn State on April 15 in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, the league office announced Sunday.
The Hawkeyes advanced through the Big Ten Regional weekend to earn a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. Iowa defeated Illinois (2-1) and Minnesota (2-0) to qualify for the Big Ten Tournament for a second straight season. The team fell to Penn State, 2-0, in the 2019 quarterfinal round.
Penn State finished on top of the regular season standings with a 9-1-1 conference record. The Nittany Lions defeated Indiana, 3-1, on Sunday to move into the semifinals.
The Hawkeyes fell to Penn State, 1-0, on March 25 in Iowa City. Iowa is the only team that has held the potent Nittany Lion offense to one score all season.
The semifinal game will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on Thursday Penn State’s Jeffery Field. It will be televised live on BTN.
