Ingles Earns Honorable Mention Honors from Top Drawer Soccer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa freshman Meike Ingles has been named an honorable mention selection to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week.

The forward earned the distinction after scoring Iowa’s goal in the near upset of No. 3 UCLA last weekend in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Ingles found the back of the net in the sixth minute for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

It is the second time Ingles has earned recognition by Top Drawer Soccer this season. She was named to the National Team of the Week on April 20 after scoring the game-winning goal in Iowa’s 1-0 victory over No. 3 Penn State in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

Iowa won the 2020 Big Ten Tournament as the No. 12 seed to earn its second straight (and third overall) NCAA Tournament appearance. The Hawkeyes opened NCAA play with a 1-0 victory over Campbell to tally the first NCAA win in program history.
