Karina Joiner Named B1G Track Athlete of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior Karina Joiner has been named Big Ten track and field athlete of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Joiner won her first career gold medal as a Hawkeye at the Wisconsin B1G Invite last Saturday, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.23. Joiner graduated from Harvard in 2020 and competed as a graduate senior for the Hawkeyes in 2021. She earns her master’s in business analytics from Iowa this spring.

The Big Ten weekly honor is the first of Joiner’s career and the fifth for Iowa this outdoor season.

The Hawkeyes return to the track Friday through Sunday at the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Champaign, Illinois. Meet information is available at hawkeyesports.com/tracklive.
