Hawkeyes Open Play in Bahamas

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – University of Iowa sophomore Klara Wildhaber shot a two-over par 74 on Friday at the White Sands Invitational at The Ocean Club Golf Course, putting in her in a tie for 15th place.

Wildhaber opened her day with bogeys on two of the three first two holes before playing even par over her final 15 holes. She had one birdie, on the par five 13th on the day.

The Hawkeyes are tied for sixth in the team standings with a 308 total. Campbell University if leading the tournament by a shot over Nebraska after firing a 284 (-4).

“We got off to a tough start on the first five holes. We need to get ourselves in a better position out of the gates tomorrow. We also got outplayed on the par threes we will look to clean up those holes.

“Klara had a steady day and feels confident about the course. We had some good looks on the greens today that did not fall. We need a good solid team effort in round two to make a move.”

HAWKEYE NOTEABLES
– Wildhaber’s round ties for her fourth best round of the season 74 (+2). Her 14 pars on the day tied for the fourth most in the field.
– Senior Dana Lerner and freshman Paula Miranda had two birdies apiece, tops on the team.
– Lerner and Wildhaber played the par 5s at one-under par.
– Junior Lilly Gentzkow finished even par on the par 3s.
