Hawkeyes Complete Day Two in Florida, Georgia

CORAL GABLES, Fla./ATLANTA – The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team completed its second day of two midseason invites Friday, competing at the Miami (Fla.) Invitational and the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Iowa continued its trend of setting season-best times Friday in both the prelims and finals. There were a total of eight new best times recorded during the events.

Junior Payton Lange swam her second and third season-bests of the weekend with a 24.35 in the 50 free of the 200-medley relay, and a 1:56.29 in the 200 free.

Junior Anna Brooker was also amongst notable season-best times, posting her collegiate-best (1:54.94) in the 200 free.

Hawkeye juniors Zoe Pawloski and Georgia Clark had season-bests in the finals as well. Pawloski clocked a 1:02.61 in the 100 fly, while Clark finished in 58.54 in the 100 back.

Two fourth place finishes were accomplished by junior Kennedy Gilbertson. The Wisconsin native did so in both the 100 fly (56.03) and 100 back (57.22).

The Hawkeyes’ quartet of Lange, Aleksandra Olesiak, Gilbertson, and Clark placed fifth in the 800-free relay with a time of 7:48.14 and the 200-medley relay consisting of Pawloski, Olesiak, Gilbertson, and Lange finished in 3:55.16 to place sixth.

The Saturday prelims begin once again at 9 a.m. (CT). Events on deck include the 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast, and 200-fly. The 1650-free and 400-free relay will take place during the finals, which start at 5 p.m. (CT).

TAMBORSKI FINALS AGAIN
Senior Samantha Tamborski finished third in the 3-meter springboard prelims, qualifying her to competein the finals for a second straight day. She ended the final with 281.40, placing sixth overall.

The Hawkeyes will compete on the platforms Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. (CT).
