CORAL GABLES, Fla./ATLANTA – The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team capped off its third and final day of two midseason invites Saturday, competing at the Miami (Fla.) Invitational and the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The Hawkeyes saw many improvements throughout the weekend, including five individual season-bests between prelim and final rounds Saturday.
Junior Georgia Clark kicked off these times by placing third in the 200 back with a 2:03.25. Junior Kennedy Gilbertson placed fourth, clocking her season-best of 2:04.89.
Junior Zoe Pawloski also found her season-best in the 200 back, coming in with a 2:09.90 in the prelims.
Iowa saw another best time in the 200 breast. Junior Aleksandra Olesiak came in fifth with her time of 2:20.80.
The Hawkeyes’ quartet of Gilbertson, Olesiak, Pawloski and Clark set the overall best time of the season in the 400-free relay (3:35.77). Gilbertson utilized the relay to also clock her individual season-best time in the 100 free with a 52.47.
The divers concluded their trip to Atlanta with platform competitions at the Georgia Tech Diving Invitational. Senior Sam Tamborski (203.70), sophomore Claire Hartley (190.05), and freshman Makayla Hughbanks (161.95) appeared in their first platform event of the season.
Iowa will travel to Ames on Dec. 10 for an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series dual against Iowa State in Beyer Pool at 6 p.m. (CT).
