MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team opened competition in a Big Ten tri-meet against Minnesota and Northwestern on Friday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
The Hawkeyes put together at least one season-best in four of the nine Friday individual events.
Junior Anna Brooker topped her previous season-best in the 1,000 free with a 10:35.44 time. Juniors Kennedy Gilbertson (55.30) and Georgia Clark (57.92) both found season-bests in the 100 back.
The remainder of Friday’s season-bests came from juniors Ariel Wooden and Payton Lange. Wooden posted a 24.29 in the 50 free, while Lange timed a 1:54.76 in the 200 free.
Diving was led by senior Sam Tamborski, who placed fourth off the 3-meter springboards with a score of 304.90.
Minnesota leads the dual over Iowa, 173-24, and Northwestern leads 169-25.
Iowa will return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT).
