UI Athletics Celebrates Women's Athletics, hosts HERkys’ Hawk Walk

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa Athletics Department will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX, hosting HERkys’ Hawk Walk on Saturday, May 7, at Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track.

The event will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and all those who have been committed to providing equitable access to sports for girls and women. The 50-minute walk will be accompanied by activities that educate and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. The event will also kickoff a year-long celebration of 50 Years of women’s athletics at the University of Iowa.

ORDER OF EVENTS

11:30 a.m.       Check-in
12 p.m.            Walk and activities on the track
12:50 p.m.       Short program with awards presentation
1 p.m.              Lunch
2 p.m.              Iowa vs. Purdue softball game

REGISTRATION

Registration is $50 for adults, $25 for students (college and high school), and $500 for teams (max of 15). Youth ages 12 and under are free. Register here.

All proceeds from this event support Iowa women’s athletics through the HERkys’ Excellence Fund, which helps provide opportunities to our female student-athletes
